The small 3 sweep old teal-blood stomped off, quite upset with her friend. Karkat ran after her, apologising many times, but nothing seemed to work. He skidded to a stop, a friend calling his name over and over," Hey Karkat!"
He whipped around to see Terezi's sister, _____," Oh, uh, hey." A light red blush began to form on his cheeks. Whenever he was in her presence, his bloodpumper sped up a dangerous amount, but he had a flushcrush on Terezi, didn't he?
"Hey, wanna have a sleepover? Terezi's going over to Dave's for a sleepover, so I thought it would be fun for us to have one too!" She giggled, her red glasses falling off her nose in the process. The young trolls bent over to grab them, but their heads banged together, causing them both to stumble backwards and fall to the ground.
Karkat laughed, another blush appearing on his pale gray face," Ha, sorry." He rubbed the back of his neck shyly.
"It's okay," She took her glasses from her best friend, and placed them on her face," Oh no! There's a crack in the lens. Oh well, I can see without them anyway!" She laughed and threw her glasses aside, laughing even more at the sound of cracking glass. Karkat gave her a confused look," Uh, was there a point to that? You could've gotten them repaired, you know."
______'s gray eyes went wide in realization," Oh, right. That would've been smarter. So, do you wanna sleepover?"
Karkat crossed his arms and huffed," Kankri probably won't let me, the buttmuncher. I have homework."
"Well, I'm sure Latula is smarter than Kankri. Come on, please?" Karkat sighed uncrossed his arms, letting them support his weight as he leaned back," Well, okay, but I gotta' ask Dad."
_____ shot up and hugged him," YAY! See you tonight!" And she ran off, grabbing the hand of her Moirail Sollux Captor and heading to the park.
Karkat grumbled and pulled the neck of his sweater up on his face. He had no idea why, but somehow _____ actually hung out with that nerdy lisp boy, and it drove him crazy. He didn't know why, but he a weird feeling towards Sollux, like he wanted to pound his face into the ground. But he paid no attention to that as Terezi and Dave walked by, hand in hand, laughing about something he couldn't hear. Dave Strider, the coolest kid in elementary school. He hated everything about him, but for some reason, he still hated Sollux more.
Now Karkat sat at his desk, reminiscing about the good old days, when nothing mattered and school work wasn't such a pain. He paid no attention as the teacher spoke on, and kept doodling on his desk. He tapped the pencil against his cheek, wondering what to doodle next. He looked around for something when a whip of teal caught his eye. His candy red eyes dwelled upon none other than ______ Pyrope, his secret flushcrush. His face felt hot as _____'s own teal eyes set on his, a small wave gestured towards him. He scowled and grumbled something, not wanting her to think he was as soft as he was. He was a helpless romantic, and even helped his friends out with their quadrant troubles, but he couldn't for the life of him figure out his own.
His head snapped up as the bell rang, signalling that class was over. He groaned, collecting his things and stomping off to his next class, prepared to be bored yet again. He felt someone walk beside him and turned his head, red eyes on teal," Sup, Vantas."
He stiffened at her presence, not wanted to mess up what could be a perfect time for a confession," The fuck do you want?" Oh, bravo, Karkat. Way to start a conversation, asshole, He thought as she glared at him, obviously already pissed at him.
"Well, aren't you in a good mood," She snarled sarcastically, shifting her math book around in her hand, suddenly seeming nervous to the younger Vantas," Um, I wanna ask you something..."
Karkat's bloodpumper skipped a beat, his face heating up already," Well, what is it, shitface?"
_____ laughed at his strange insults, not offended in the slightest, seeing how it was Karkat she was talking to," Remember when we were little, and used to have sleepovers every weekend?"
Karkat raised an eyebrow as they walked into the classroom," Yeah, and?..."
"We should do that again, tonight." She took her seat and he sat next to her, slamming his books on the desk," We're almost eight sweeps, and you wanna have a fucking sleepover? We haven't done that since 6th grade."
"Well, I see it more like a movie marathon with you sleeping on my floor. I just know how much you love..." She leaned over and whispered in his ear," Romcoms..."
Karkat's ear's perked up at the word, and he glared at her," If I come will you shut the fuck up about it?"
She nodded, a sincere smile on her face, but a devious look in her eyes," I promise." he didn't believe her at all, but his heart won over his mind and he sighed, taking out his pencil again," Fine, just don't say anything about my secret, okay?"
"I wouldn't tell it for a million boonbucks." She winked, but a blank look came across her face," Okay, that's a lie, but you know what I mean." Karkat smiled to himself as _____ pulled out her sketchbook, doing what she always did in math class. She was fantastic in Karkat's opinion, but she was very insecure, afraid of mockery for her drawings.
The lesson began, and for once Karkat stared straight at the whiteboard, trying his best to keep his focus there. He heard light laughing behind him, and whipped his head around. Vriska snickered at him, wiggling her eyebrows, not even needing to say what she was thinking. Karkat stared blankly at her, fists clenched and ready to hit her in the face if needed.
"______ and Karkat sittin' in a tree," She whispered, and Nepeta joined in from across the room," K-I-S-S-I-N-G." Karkat was glad that it was too low for _____ to hear, and very ecstatic that the lights were dimmed down to hide his furious amount of red tint to his face.
"Shut the fuck up-"
"Mr. Vantas, if you're such a blabber mouth, then why don't you explain to the whole class what we just learned." The teacher said, and all eyes fell upon Karkat, who wasn't exactly in the mood for this bullshit," Why don't you kiss my ass." The whole section of A or B students gasped, while the lower grade students laughed their heads off. The teacher sighed and shook her head, writing down a detention slip," Oh, Karkat, why couldn't you have been more like Kankri?"
He shook from the anger that was boiling in his mutant-blood. He's been hearing all his life, for Christ's sake! All the teachers said the same thing at least once a week, and every time in made him feel worse about his insecurities. He was nothing compared to Kankri, who was praised for all his knowledge and equality and respect for others. All the students found him annoying as hell, but Kankri didn't care, in fact, he actually did have people on the debating club and leadership who liked his lectures.
"Detention after school, again, Karkat." She groaned and handed him the white slip of paper, and began sending an email to the office of Mr. Hussie. The bell rang and lunch broke out, all students cheering for a break from Pythagorean theorem. Karkat hissed as the paper cut his finger, drawling out bright red blood. He covered his whole hand with the sleeve of his usual turtleneck and went straight outside, not bothering to get his lunch bag or money. He went to the nearest and shadiest tree he could find and sat down under it, looking down at his hand as he gently touched his wound.
"Goddammit, Karkat." He mumbled to himself, taking his sleeve and wiping away the blood," Why do you have to be such a fucking loud mouth?"
"Personally, I think that's one of your best qualities." A voice whispered in his ear, a familiar scent of vanilla wafting into his nose. He scrunched up his nose and growled," Go away."
"Okay, I'll stay," ______ sat down beside him and rested under the shade with him, much to his pleasure. They talked about many things, but he just wanted to keep the conversation going, not wanting to hear her sweet voice come to an end. He loved everything about her; her smile, her laugh, the way she could be nice but could be so mean, the way she swayed her hair around and didn't care about blood color...
He sighed mentally, trying to keep it in his head that they would never be together, let alone it that kind of Matespritship. He began to think about this subject, what it would be like to be with her, protect her, never let Strider near her-
"What's up, Pyrope?" Well, speak of the devil, look who it is? Mister Dave Strider," Heya' sista'!" Terezi laughed, looking slightly off, her red glasses tilted like they were gonna' fall off.
Karkat eyed Terezi, then looked at Dave," What the fuck is wrong with her?"
Dave shrugged," I don't know, somethin' about Gamzee's weird green 'slime pie'."
Karkat groaned and hit his head off the back of the tree," Well, take her to the nurse's office, dipshit! What kind of Matesprit are you?"
Dave took Terezi's hand and walked off, but not before shouting back," At least I had the guts to ask her out."
Karkat's face went red as _____ raised her eyebrows, just waking up from a quick nap," What'd he say?"
"N-nothing. The bell's gonna' ring soon, let's go." Karkat helped her up and went back into the school, fidgeting with his hands as _____ kept giving him strange looks, knowing he wasn't telling the truth. He was a good liar, but not to her he wasn't. Karkat growled at her and stomped ahead, expressing that he did not want to pry on the subject.
For the next two classes, Karkat's thinkpan was in overdrive. He couldn't get _____ out of his head, and all he could think about was.... well, her. She was perfect, even if she thought nothing of herself. He just couldn't keep living his life like this, living without the affection of someone he loved so much, it was tearing him apart. Of course, how was he supposed to say it? I mean, he was the romance God, almighty of things from Matesprit's Day to romcom expertise, yet he couldn't even ask a girl out for even a date? Oh, yes, it totally makes sense...
"Um, Karkat?" Said male felt a finger tap his shoulder and whipped around and saw _____ leaning over him," School is over, you have detention now." He growled, as if the slip wasn't enough confirmation...
"Yeah, see ya' later." Karkat headed for the door, but stopped himself. The teacher was gone, students were no longer in the building. It was just him, and her. Alone. Together. Perfect.
"Uh, wait!" He yelled as she walked past him," I'm flushed for you!" That was certainly not the way he had planned to say it, but you deal with what you have, right? _____ looked him, before bursting out into laughter. He blushed a mess as she gripped her stomach. Of course she wouldn't like you, stupid, a voice in the back of his thinkpan said to him, and she'll never flush for you! I mean, look at her! Her head's gonna blow off from laughing!. Karkat watched as ____ wiped a translucent teal tear from her eye," Oh, Gog, Karkat! What a joke! Like you'd be flushed for me!" She continued to laugh, but it gradually got lighter and lighter as Karkat stayed silent," Oh, you were serious?"
"Why would I fucking joke about that?" He said as he gritted his sharp teeth together.
_____ blushed intensely as she bit her lip," K-Karkat I-"
"Just forget I said anything." Walking away heart broken, Karkat clenched his fists as tears threatened his eyes.
Karkat stopped, turning back to look at the voice who has said it," What?"
______ smirked," You heard me."
Karkat slowly walked to her, a questioning look on his face," And how am I supposed to do that?"
______ smiled and turned on her heel, heading for the door," You figure it out. Don't you have detention to get to?" And with that, she was gone. Karkat pondered over what she had said, trying to decipher what he should do. His candy red orbs went wide as he remembered the last part of her departing words," Oh shit!"
On Wednesday, _____ sat in art class next to her usual art partner, Jakkob. He had talent with shading, was pretty funny, could be an asshole at times, but he was fine other than that. Jakkob scratched at his midnight black hair as his dark blue eyes scanned his blank paper, no inspiration coming to mind.
"So, where do you think he is?" Jakkob asked as _____ looked around worriedly for her flushcrush. She had told him about what happened, and he immediately scowled at her for being so stupid and immature.
"I don't know." She mumbled as she sketched furiously on her sketch paper," What if I made him upset or some shit?"
Jakkob tapped his pencil against his desk, rubbing off the graphite on his left hand," Fucking lefty shit. What did you ask?". ______ sighed and put her pencil down, resting her head in her hands," Never mind.". Karkat hadn't come to school on Monday or Tuesday, nor had he spoke to _____ since Friday. Anyone who knew him was worried, even Vriska, on account that he owed her five boonbucks. Not even Karkat's Moirail knew of his whereabouts, telling everyone that," KaRbRo HaSn'T aNsWeReD a MoThErFuCkIn' MeSsAgE.".
"Yo' Pyrope." Dave placed a hand on _____'s desk, causing her to look up at him," You've got a special delivery." He gave her a gray note with a heart stamp pressed on the middle and a kiss on the cheek," The kiss is from Karkat."
______ blushed furiously and slowly opened the note, gasping at what she read.
I REMEMBER IN FIFTH GRADE WHEN YOU SAID
THAT I'M NOTHING BUT TALK. SO, INSTEAD OF
EXPLAINING WHY I'M FLUSHED FOR YOU SO BAD,
I THOUGHT I'D TELL YOU IN A DIFFERENT
THERE ARE MANY THINGS ABOUT YOU, WHETHER IT'S YOUR LAUGH,
SMILE, YOUR AGGRESIVE YET LOVING NATURE,
I LOVE IT ALL.
YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN MAKE ME SMILE,
DID YOU KNOW THAT? YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE I'M JEALOUS OVER.
SOLLUX, STRIDER, EVEN THAT FISHDICK ERIDAN AND YOUR FRIEND JAKKOB
OR WHATEVER HIS NAME IS. BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, I ALWAYS ACT TOUGH
SO YOU WOULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT UNTIL
I WAS READY TO CONFESS. WELL, LOOK HOW THAT WORKED OUT...
THERE YOU GO, THAT'S WHY I'M FLUSHED FOR YOU. IT PROBABLY SUCKED, BUT
I'VE SPENT FIVE DAYS TRYING TO THINK OF A FUCKING THING TO DO FOR YOU,
SO GIVE ME A BREAK.
NOW TURN AROUND.
_____ looked at the note once more before turning around, only to be met by a pair of soft black lips. When _____ realised it was Karkat, she kissed back just as passionately, letting his tongue slip into her mouth.
"Ugh. Go get a room, for fuck's sake." Jakkob placed a gray hand over his eyes, shielding him from the class make-out session. Nepeta squealed as a shipping set sail, and Dirk nodded as the two glared at everyone in the room. The teacher looked over at the two and sighed, clearly knowing what would come next. She headed over to the closet and grabbed a bucket, flinging it at Karkat and _____," Go home and play save." She groaned.
Karkat looked at the bucket, then at _____, smirking and holding out a hand," Shall we?"
_____ looked at Jakkob, who nodded it was okay to go, and grabbed Karkat's hand, smiling," With pleasure."
